Frances Grace was diagnosed with Leukemia, again, on April 28, 2009. She had been cancer free for about 51/2
years until that day. She was first diagnosed with Leukemia August 2003, she was 3 years old. She bravely fought this cancer battle and we all thought we were finished. In April this year, after she had her ballet performance, she was acting tired and saying her ribs hurt. Things just did not seem right, so we took her to her pediatrician. Blood work showed a very low CBC level, not consistent with Leukemia, so her oncologist in Birmingham was called. They thought it might be viral, but to come up and they would do a bone marrow biopsy the next morning to be sure. Well, it wasn't viral. It was Leukemia, again! The same kind as last time, which is better than it turning into a different kind, which
is harder to treat.
Her treatment plan is about 21/2 years of very intense, very toxic chemotherapy. At this time, we are traveling to Children's Hospital in Birmingham, Alabama every week for treatment. We have the amazing support of our family and awesome friends. Her Girl Scout, ballet and book club friends are an unbelievable cheerleading support for us as well as Frances Grace. With the help and grace of God, we will all make it through this difficult time, and come out the better for Him.
